SANDAKAN, June 28, 2025 – The High Court here sentenced Mohd Rusdi Mohd Nor, 38, to 20 years in prison for causing the death of his six-month pregnant wife, Dr. Azma Ab Rajab, 36, during rough sex on November 9, 2022, at a condominium on Jalan Utara. High Court Judge Datuk Celestina Stuel Galid found Mohd Rusdi guilty under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code for culpable homicide without intent to kill. The prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, highlighting the death resulted from asphyxia due to smothering. The court noted no prior violence or premeditation. Mohd Rusdi, unemployed, expressed remorse, while the prosecution emphasized Dr. Azma’s role as a dedicated medical officer and sole breadwinner.
