The Ipoh High Court sentenced Mohamad Amier Amzar Mohamad Aspar, 28, to death by hanging for the 2018 murder of Bangladeshi worker MD Ovaidul in Sungai Kinta, Perak Tengah. Judge Su Tiang Joo ruled the killing was premeditated and brutally executed, involving prolonged suffering before the fatal cut, with the body dumped in a river. The court found aggravating factors, including interference with a witness. Victim’s brother, MD Hossain Khan, said Ovaidul, the family’s breadwinner, planned to marry soon. The murder was committed by the son of the victim’s employer. The prosecution was led by JS Geetha; the defence by V. Santhiran.
