Man Pays RM70k As Ransom To Escape Malaysian Love Scam In Myanmar

A Malaysian calling himself Seah says he managed to get out alive – after being pushed from a third-floor balcony in Myanmar – where other Malaysians are held ‘hostage’ after his family paid an RM70,000 ransom.

“Every day I was beaten with a stick. In April, I was pushed from the balcony on the third floor,” he said t an MCA Public Services and Complaints Department briefing to the media in Kuala Lumpur.

Seah said the syndicate members were Malaysians although he believed that their leader was from China and he found the ‘job’ opportunity paying RM4000 monthly on the Internet and was brought to Myanmar through rat lanes” into Thailand and then Myanmar. He says the ’employment’ is work as love scammers targeting Chinese citizens living in the US and Europe.
