FUKUOKA, Oct 15, 2026: A 33-year-old woman has been arrested in Japan on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a married man with whom she was having an affair.
Police said Kumiko Taniguchi allegedly attacked the 39-year-old man inside a private booth at an internet cafe in Sawara Ward, Fukuoka, on Oct 9. Investigators believe she used a kitchen knife brought from her home and stabbed the victim in the abdomen.
The incident came to light the following morning when the man’s wife contacted police after receiving a message from her husband stating that he had been stabbed and was being held against his will.

Officers rushed to the internet cafe, detained the suspect and rescued the victim, who was subsequently taken to hospital. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening.
Police said Taniguchi admitted to the allegation and told investigators she intended to kill the man.
The case has drawn widespread public attention in Japan, with online discussions focusing on why the man contacted his wife rather than emergency services following the attack.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
