Presidents of MCA and MIC have rebuked Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s remarks likening their parties to “children mourning lost toys.” Wee Ka Siong insists MCA seeks fairness, not positions, while SA Vigneswaran says MIC demands dignity, not power.
MCA and MIC Demand Respect
Both parties are reassessing their place in Barisan Nasional amid dissatisfaction over seat allocations and Umno’s alliance with Pakatan Harapan. MCA holds two parliamentary seats, MIC one.
Vigneswaran also denied Zahid’s claim of recent meetings, saying no formal talks occurred. The last official meeting was two years ago. Leaders stress that any future discussions must involve top party leadership.
