MCMC Investigates Newspaper Over Incomplete Jalur Gemilang

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has summoned Kwong Wah Yit Poh over a Facebook post displaying an incomplete Jalur Gemilang, missing the crescent moon. MCMC is investigating the incident under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

It emphasized the seriousness of the issue and pledged to cooperate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police if needed. The commission issued a firm warning to media outlets and the public not to post altered or incomplete versions of the national flag. This follows a similar incident involving Sin Chew Daily during President Xi Jinping’s visit.
