MET Says North-east Monsoon To Begin Next Week

1 min read

MET Malaysia yesterday warns the north-east monsoon will hit the country from next week, beginning Nov 7, just days after campaigning kicks off for the general election.

It is expected to last until March 2023 and is a revised forecast from what the MET said earlier that it would start in min-Nov.

“As with previous monsoon seasons, continuous heavy rain for even a few days has been known to cause floods in low-lying areas and areas next to rivers.

“If the heavy rain and the high tide phenomenon take place at the same time, there will be higher risk of floods,” says MET Malaysia on the North-east Monsoon.
