Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi revealed that completing the long-delayed Maju Expressway extension (MEX II) could cost up to RM449 million. The estimate was provided by receivers and managers overseeing MEX II Sdn Bhd, which has been under receivership since May 2022 after defaulting on sukuk payments.

Rising costs, repair works, and delays may further increase the final figure. Responding to Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin, Alexander said a comprehensive proposal is being prepared, covering financing, traffic analysis, concession terms, and toll structures. The 16.8km extension will connect the MEX Putrajaya Interchange to the KLIA highway, though completion dates and toll rates remain undecided.
