Malaysia Airlines confirmed that flight MH21 from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Kuala Lumpur returned to CDG shortly after departure on January 7 due to an engine indication anomaly. The crew followed safety protocols, requested priority handling, and landed safely at 3.35pm local time.

Passengers were reallocated to other carriers or accommodated in nearby hotels. A replacement flight, MH21D, was scheduled to depart at 5pm. The airline expressed regret for the disruption, stressing that safety remains its top priority. Flightradar24 data showed the Airbus A350 departed at 2.09pm, later than its scheduled 11.10am slot, before the precautionary landing.
