KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 — MIC secretary-general S Ananthan has asserted that the party is fully capable of making independent decisions without deferring to MCA. He said MIC’s leadership prioritises the interests of the Indian community and Malaysians, and will not rely on joint decisions with other Barisan Nasional (BN) partners. His remarks come as four state liaison committees urged MIC to leave BN, amid dissatisfaction with Umno-DAP cooperation. While MCA adopts a “wait and see” stance, MIC leaders say they remain open to negotiations with any party, provided cooperation is built on mutual respect and equality.
