The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) is concerned about Budget 2025’s impact on tourism and hospitality. The increase of the minimum wage from RM1,500 to RM1,700 will strain hoteliers’ finances.

While appreciating the RM550 million allocation for the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2025 and Visit Malaysia Year 2026, and the RM110 million for ecotourism, MAH urges careful allocation of funds. 

They note a lack of targeted tax incentives and unaddressed green and sustainable practices. MAH calls for transparency in the Tourism Tax collection and utilization, and for additional support mechanisms to mitigate increased operational costs.
