Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has asked the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to halt its directive requiring ISPs to implement DNS redirection.

Fahmi emphasised the need for comprehensive solutions to cybercrime, including access to gambling, prostitution, and pornography websites. He assured Malaysians that the government prioritises online safety, especially for children and families. 

Following feedback from engagement sessions and the public, Fahmi requested MCMC to stop the DNS redirection plan. Some internet users complained that DNS redirection blocked access to game sites and VPN applications, leading to an online petition against it.
