SHAH ALAM: The Health Ministry is investigating allegations of food poisoning involving consumers who reportedly experienced symptoms after consuming a bread product, following complaints circulated on social media.
The ministry said preliminary investigations were being conducted under the Food Act 1983 and its related regulations. It said the matter was being taken seriously and clarification had been sought from the bread manufacturer concerned.
According to the company, its internal investigation found no irregularities in the manufacturing process, recipe changes,or non-compliance with standard operating procedures and food safety controls. However, the ministry said the company’s findings were based solely on its internal investigation and could not be treated as a conclusive determination of the cause of the reported symptoms.

Product tracing had also been limited due to incomplete information on manufacturing batch numbers and expiry dates. The remaining bread products and packaging had been collected with the complainant’s consent for laboratory analysis.
The ministry said it was awaiting the laboratory results and would conduct follow-up inspections at the factory to verify compliance with the Food Act 1983. Appropriate enforcement action would be taken if evidence of violations or food safety risks was established.
Consumers experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, or discomfort after consuming the suspected product were advised to seek medical attention immediately and report the incident to their nearest District Health Office.
