Misusing AI Technology, Such As Photo Edits For Wrongful Purposes, Can Lead to Court Case

1 min read

Apart from social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is now gaining major attention in today’s digital era. AI can transform situations into seemingly real content, creating powerful tools for creativity and productivity. However, misuse of this technology for negative purposes can land individuals in legal trouble. Under Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, strict regulations govern online content, including AI-generated material. Offenders can face prosecution if AI is used to defame, threaten, deceive, or incite public unrest. Authorities continue to warn the public against irresponsible use of AI, emphasising ethical and lawful application.
