The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has announced that beauty services such as manicures, pedicures, facials, and hairdressing will not be subject to the expanded Service Tax, following extensive public and industry feedback.

MoF Excludes Beauty Services from New SST After Public Backlash

Imported fruits like apples and oranges, as well as essential items including rice, poultry, and fish, will remain tax-exempt. The annual sales threshold for Service Tax registration has also been raised to RM1 million for rental, leasing, and financial services to ease MSME burdens.
