A temporary worker hired for the Malaysian MotoGP weekend was arrested on Saturday night (Oct 31) in an alleged MotoGP VIP pass scam at Sepang International Circuit (SIC), The Rakyat Post reported.
The worker is suspected of selling Perdana Suite hospitality passes to fans outside the circuit’s entrance gates for between RM230 and RM250 each during the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia weekend.

According to the report, the passes being sold were not fakes. They were genuine operational passes meant only for event staff, which the suspect allegedly obtained using internal staff credentials.
The arrest followed an investigation by circuit management and the police. The suspect’s name, age and the number of passes sold were not disclosed, and no charges have been announced.
Wrong man blamed online
Before the arrest, a man identified only as Aqil was labelled the mastermind behind the pass sales on social media.
SIC management later issued a statement saying the suspect was not Aqil but a temporary hire brought in for the race weekend. The Rakyat Post said Aqil had been wrongly blamed online.
Circuit officials have urged fans to steer clear of ticket scalpers and sellers on social media, and to buy tickets only through the official Sepang Circuit website.
