Malaysian motorists using electronic number plate flippers to conceal or alter their vehicle registration numbers may face legal action under the Road Transport Act. These devices, sold online for RM150 to RM350, allow plates to rotate or slide out of view with the push of a button.
Motorists warned with plate flippers
While marketed as tools for privacy and protection, authorities warn they violate Section 108 of the Act, which prohibits false or misleading plate displays. Offenders risk up to one year in jail, a RM5,000 fine, or both. Enforcement actions against sellers or buyers have yet to be confirmed, according to traffic officials.
