Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki on Indonesia’s Flores island erupted Thursday night, sending ash 8km into the sky and prompting authorities to raise its alert to the highest level.

Seven international flights from Bali were canceled, including six Jetstar flights to Australia and one AirAsia flight to Kuala Lumpur, with additional delays affecting routes to Thailand and Singapore.
The volcanic activity lasted over 11 minutes and posed risks of mudflows due to heavy rainfall. An exclusion zone has been imposed within 7 to 8km around the volcano. Indonesia, situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, frequently experiences seismic and volcanic disturbances.
