The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) clarified that Members of Parliament (MPs) receive a fixed monthly allowance of RM25,700, alongside additional allowances for official duties. These include daily allowances for parliamentary sessions, committee meetings, and official briefings, as well as travel and accommodation claims.
MPs Earn Up to RM40,000 Monthly, PMO Confirms
For overseas duties, MPs are entitled to meal, living, and transportation allowances. Combined, their monthly income can reach RM30,000 to RM40,000.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged MPs to manage finances wisely and prioritize public welfare. He criticized opposition MPs for claiming financial struggles despite high earnings, emphasizing that constituency allocations remain unaffected by political affiliation.
