Malaysia’s Construction Sector Expands 12.9% in Q2 2025

Malaysia’s construction sector grew 12.9% in Q2 2025, reaching RM43.9 billion in work value, driven by strong gains in special trade activities (+22.2%) and non-residential buildings (+16.2%). Residential buildings rose 13.9%, while civil engineering grew 7.5%, led by utility projects and road/rail developments.

Malaysia’s Construction Sector Expands 12.9% in Q2 2025

The private sector contributed 64.2% of total value, mainly from non-residential and special trades. Public sector growth reached 3.1%, with notable gains in special trades. Selangor, Johor, Sarawak, and Federal Territories accounted for 61.1% of national output. For H1 2025, total construction value hit RM86.8 billion, up 14.7% year-on-year, supported by special trade activities and residential growth.
