Malaysia Records 475 Million E-Invoices Ahead of Full Rollout

A total of 475 million e-invoices have been issued by 98,813 taxpayers under the first three phases of Malaysia’s mandatory e-invoicing system, Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying told the Dewan Rakyat on August 18.

She noted that 37,000 taxpayers from phases four and five have also voluntarily adopted the system ahead of schedule, reflecting strong acceptance of the initiative.

Lim explained that while the rollout aims to enhance transparency and strengthen tax compliance, revenue projections can only be assessed after full mandatory implementation begins on July 1, 2026. The government will continue monitoring the system’s effectiveness in improving compliance.
