Malaysia Urged to Shift from Tech Consumer to Innovation Producer

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof emphasized that innovation must be central to Malaysia’s journey toward becoming a developed, globally competitive nation. Speaking at the Social Innovation Trail 2025 Sarawak Zone launch, he urged Malaysia to evolve from consumer to producer by nurturing grassroots innovation.

He highlighted the need for public participation in the national innovation ecosystem, stressing that success depends on community-wide engagement. 

The initiative, led by the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM) under Mosti, aims to identify, develop, and commercialize local ideas through a four-step approach: Discover, Develop, Disseminate, and Diffuse—turning small efforts into national impact.
