UMNO’s Akmal Saleh urges revival of Muafakat Nasional after Perlis ADUNs withdraw support from PAS MB.
KUALA LUMPUR – UMNO Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh today proposed reviving Muafakat Nasional (MN), the former political cooperation between UMNO and PAS, amid growing instability in Perlis. The suggestion follows reports that eight Perlis state assemblymen have submitted statutory declarations to the palace, expressing loss of confidence in PAS-led Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, potentially triggering by-elections in three seats.
Dissolve PN
In a sarcastic Facebook post, Akmal quipped: “Since we’re dissolving anyway, why not dissolve Perikatan Nasional (PN) and revive Muafakat Nasional?” He claimed warnings before GE15 to strengthen MN were ignored, adding that “belang” (true colours) are now visible. Many social media users supported the call, viewing MN as a more stable platform.
