DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke reminded Dr Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia’s historical multi-ethnic coexistence. He also questioned Mahathir’s sudden stance against a multi-ethnic Malaysia. From 2018 to 2020 Loke worked closely with PM Mahathir in the PH government.

His sortie against Mahathir yesterday probably marks a formal split between Loke and the elderly statesman. Mahathir yesterday claimed promoting a multi-ethnic Malaysia contradicts the Federal Constitution.

Defending Multi-ethnic Malaysia

Loke affirmed DAP’s commitment to serving the country and building a united society based on the principles of Rukun Negara. While the Constitution upholds Malay language and quotas for Malays and Bumiputera, Article 8 ensures equality among citizens regardless of ethnicity.
