KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was not involved in any conspiracy to defraud SRC International Sdn Bhd, his lawyer told the High Court. In closing submissions, counsel Farhan Shafee argued that if a scheme existed, it was orchestrated by fugitive financier Low Taek Jho (Jho Low) and former SRC CEO Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil. Farhan said Najib should not be made a scapegoat without proof, stressing corporate governance failures and others’ actions caused losses. The US$1.18 billion civil suit continues before Justice Ahmad Fairuz Zainol Abidin on Sept 24.
