Amid rising living costs, Malaysians on social media are questioning the true cost of survival—especially in urban centres like Kuala Lumpur. A recent report revealed that the national poverty line has climbed to RM2,705, prompting calls for a revised minimum wage. 

Minimum Wage Needs to be RM4k – Netizens

Some users argue that RM4,000 per month should be the new baseline, reflecting the realities of rent, food, transport, and childcare in the capital. 

Others state that if salaries do increase, the cost of goods will also increase as well. The balance between the two are tied together more than one may think. However, some state that when salaries aren’t increasing, the cost of goods would still increase.
