There are a number of new up coming stand up comedians. It appears that one from Singapore, Jocelyn Chia, is getting into hot waters with Malaysians for her jokes. She stated that Singapore is now a developed country, while Malaysia is a developing country. She also made jabs about MH370, to which ticked off Malaysian Twitter users even more.

There are remarks made by angry netizens towards her comments which are directed to Singaporeans. One of them stated that if Singapore was truly a “rich” country, they would not be taking our cheap petrol and shop at our discounted stores. They also made crude remarks stating that Singaporeans are always working to the brim of their limits.
Some are even calling her a “Karen” for making jokes that are offensive. However, many know that stand up comedy is supposed to be naturally offensive. There are some who are able to make inoffensive jokes, but if someone were to break out in America, the jokes would need to be attention grabbing. Regardless, Malaysians seem to disagree with this due to MH370’s loss of lives.
