The Kedah MB, Sanusi, has stated his grand plans all over the media to build a new international airport for his state. Kedah MB wants new international airport in his state
Netizens are stating that Alor Setar has merely 11 or 12 flights a day to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. Twitter users are stating that low traffic like that does not warrant a major international hub in the state. Furthermore, many are forgetting that Langkawi, a district in Kedah, also has an airport.
There are almost 20 flights a day from Langkawi to either Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Penang and Subang. Beefing up the Langkawi airport may seem quite sensible rather than building another major airport.
Others are stating that building another major airport in Kedah may “steal” away the market share Penang already has. Furthermore, netizens are stating that if this project becomes a white elephant, it will be upon the taxpayers to foot the bill.
