Recently, there was a lot of heated controversy from the opposition parties stating that under Pakatan Harapan, movies like Pulau are allowed to be shown in Malaysia. However, a netizen pointed out that the movie was approved for screening well before the current Pakatan Harapan government took over.

Other netizens stated their two cents by saying that PAS should not be too excited in cancelling the movie. The netizen also stated that if they made more noise, maybe soon movie producers would need to place in the credits on which the government approved their movies to be shown publicly.
Obvious PAS supporters then stated that the Pakatan Harapan government can easily ban the movie now. However, many stated that it would not be fair for a current government to just ban something on the whim of the opposing party.
