It appears that a single person living in Selangor who drives a car would need at least RM 2,600 to survive in Selangor, according to the Belanjawanku app. Netizens are upset at this as the current minimum wage is RM 1,500 and employers are stating that this is quite high as it is. However, as Selangor is a car-centric state, a majority of the population would need one to get around.

Netizens are stating that the salary scale in Malaysia is still relatively low. One user states that they are living in Ampang, and the Belanjawanku app is pretty accurate when it comes to calculating the needs of individuals. Many are stating that salaries for individuals need to start between RM 2,500 and RM 3,000.
Others state the app is not flexible when it comes to other costs like skincare. They say only “pretty” people are allowed to spend only RM70 a month on personal care. Unfortunately for those who are not the beauty standard, they might need to allocate more for that.
