Former Selangor UMNO chairman Noh Omar has said he would consider returning to United Malays National Organisation if the party ends its cooperation with Democratic Action Party. In a statement, Noh said he supports the idea of strengthening the party through the Rumah Bangsa initiative but stressed that it should not involve working with DAP within the current political arrangement.
Noh Omar Says He May Rejoin UMNO If Party Cuts Ties With DAP
Noh Omar, who was expelled from UMNO in 2023, said the party could pursue the Rumah Bangsa agenda independently without relying on cooperation through the existing unity government. He reiterated that although he still holds strong loyalty to UMNO, his return would depend on the party’s political direction.
The comments come after UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi recently announced that the party is open to welcoming back former members who had been expelled or suspended. Discussions surrounding the Rumah Bangsa initiative have also mentioned figures such as Khairy Jamaluddin as potential participants in efforts to reunite UMNO supporters.
