Nor Shamsiah Is Aware OPR Hike Hurts Some Malaysians

The BNM Governor TS Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus says the Central Bank is aware the OPR hike is hurting some Malaysians. But that’s it. There is no solutions provided on how to help them?

The governor says the OPR is a blunt tool designed to deliver price stability. More targeted measures are in place to help those who are facing difficulties in meeting their monthly loan repayments, she says. Which should be good news for those complaining.

Nor Shamsiah Assures

On the poor showing of the Ringgit, Nor Shamsiah say sthat in recent weeks, the local currency has come under renewed pressure. She adds that there is need for more than short-term solutions to curb its downall. Under the flexible exchange rate, it is reasonable for the ringgit to fluctuate from time to time, she says.
