Politicians are increasingly divided over control of Sarawak’s oil and gas resources, with Putrajaya reaffirming Petronas’ dominance despite Sarawak’s push for greater autonomy. Law Minister Azalina Othman Said stated in Parliament that Petronas remains the sole guardian under the 1974 Petroleum Development Act (PDA), sidelining Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) from full control over the state’s natural gas.
