Olympics: Thai athletes’ uniforms now criticised

The official uniform for Thai athletes at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, unveiled on the ‘Stadium TH’ Facebook page, received mixed reactions. Modeled by badminton player Sapsiree Taerattanachai, the light blue Thai silk suit with a mandarin collar, inspired by the Phraratchathan suit, drew comparisons to provincial governor attire.

Critics, including former advisor Pansak Vinyaratn and architect Duangrit Bunnag, likened it to a waiter’s uniform and urged Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to enlist designers for a redesign, noting there is still time to make changes.
