LANGKAWI — A boat believed to be carrying between 90 and 100 undocumented migrants capsized off Langkawi, leaving one Rohingya woman dead. Six survivors, including Myanmar and Bangladeshi nationals, were found adrift and rescued by authorities.

Kedah police chief Adzli Abu Shah said the group had departed Myanmar a month ago with around 300 people aboard a larger vessel, later divided into three smaller boats. Only one reportedly sank, while the others remain missing. Authorities believe the incident may have occurred in Thai waters before drifting into Malaysian territory. Investigations and maritime patrols are ongoing. – November 9, 2025 – Photo: For illustration purposes only
