A 52-year-old accounts clerk in Pahang lost nearly RM300,000 after falling victim to a fake part-time job scam on TikTok. Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the woman was contacted via the app on August 1 and directed to a fake website resembling a popular e-commerce platform.

Believing she was investing in customer orders, she made 16 transactions totaling RM299,646 into four bank accounts, but received no returns. Yahaya reminded the public to verify suspicious offers via the police’s Semak Mule portal and to report scams immediately to the National Scam Response Centre at 997.
