Kuala Lumpur: Umno Deputy President DS Mohamad Hasan says the repeal of the Emergency Ordinance by the government is unconstitutional.
He says the absence of an official announcement and notifications from the Palace or gazetting shows the PN is using Parliament for its own interest.
“Parliament is not a playground, the PN Government uses Parliament only to fulfil their interests and not the national interest.
“The Emergency Ordinance was implemented without being tabled in Parliament, not debated and its implementation could not be reviewed and balanced by Parliament.
“The cancellation was only announced in Parliament (using it as) a rubber stamp to the Cabinet’s decision,” he says in a statement dated yesterday.
He says the PN Government’s action is seen as very worrying and if allowed to continue, Malaysia is clearly heading towards authoritarianism.
