A PAS leader has warned that appointing Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as Perikatan Nasional chairman could cost the party dozens of parliamentary seats. Sungai Buloh PAS chief Zaharudin Muhammad said internal data and analysis indicate PAS could lose up to 37 seats if Samsuri replaces Muhyiddin Yassin at this stage.

He said the projection was based on three undisclosed scenarios and conditions. Zaharudin cautioned against growing enthusiasm to elevate PAS or Samsuri within the coalition, warning that the move could harm both PAS and Malaysia if the risks are ignored despite limited public disclosure of the underlying data.
