SHAH ALAM – PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of abusing executive power by directing the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate Pagoh MP Muhyiddin Yassin’s denial of claims he defended foreign nationals receiving fuel subsidies. Ahmad Fadhli argued the order undermines MCMC’s independence and falls outside Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. He warned it could breach Section 23 of the MACC Act, which prohibits using public office for political gain. MCMC confirmed receiving the PM’s directive after Muhyiddin challenged Anwar to prove his allegation in Parliament.
