The tax, expanding to cover services like rentals, construction, finance, private healthcare, education, and beauty, is seen as oppressive. Azhar demanded an immediate halt, public consultations, and a transparent cost-benefit analysis, criticizing the government’s fiscal mismanagement. He warned, “Kerajaan tidak boleh terus menjadikan rakyat sebagai ‘mesin kutip cukai’ untuk menampung kelemahan pentadbiran kewangan negara,” threatening protests if the government ignores public concerns.
