ALOR SETAR — Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) has set its sights on capturing Pahang, Perak and Selangor, with president Abdul Hadi Awang declaring the states as the party’s next battlegrounds. Speaking at PAS’ annual general meeting in Kedah on Monday (Sep 15), Hadi says the Islamist party will defend its “base states” of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis while expanding its influence nationwide.

PAS Targets New States

He pledges that PAS would lead Malaysia’s plural society without sidelining non-Muslims, stressing the party’s “obligation to safeguard” its current seats and advance an Islamic agenda in line with state jurisdictions.

“The next victories are expected to come from Pahang, Perak, and Selangor, thereby strengthening PAS and PN’s representation in parliament, while also boosting achievements in the southern states and in Sabah, which will soon face its state election,” Hadi says.
