Pedestrian Friendly Streets, Not in Malaysia

1 min read

A netizen posted a tweet of them trying to walk home from work, of which the distance is only 1km. However, they claim that the walkability is unbearable and dangerous for pedestrians as there is no proper walkway or pavement for them to walk on.

It was reported that motorists also prefer to use the little sidewalks that Kuala Lumpur has as their own motor lane. While riding up the sidewalk, they would horn the pedestrians walking on said sidewalk that was built for walking. The netizen further stated that there has been numerous times where he was almost hit by a motor.

Another netizen stated caution to others as some of these motorists that use the sidewalk as their road would creep up on pedestrians and rob them. Others mentioned that Kuala Lumpur promotes itself as a ‘walk friendly’ city while having a full construction site unwalkable for pedestrians at said promotion.
