GEORGE TOWN – Penang landowners affected by the recent land tax increase can submit appeals to their respective District and Land Offices, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced. He said the state government will provide ample time for adjustments and has introduced rebates of up to 50% this year to ease the transition.

Special consideration will be given to First Grade properties and lands reclassified from rural to urban status. The revised rates, effective this year, are based on current land use rather than outdated agricultural rates from 1994, impacting industrial, residential, and commercial titleholders.
