The Perak state government plans to install 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state by the end of this year, as part of efforts to support growing EV adoption and address concerns over limited infrastructure. So far, about 149 charging points have been installed at 56 locations, with more rollout expected in the months ahead.
Perak Pushing EV Charging Expansion
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the initiative aims to make EVs more appealing to motorists by improving access to chargers in both urban areas and key tourism spots, helping to ease range anxiety that has previously discouraged EV purchases.
The expansion also complements broader national targets to grow EV infrastructure and mobility, aligning with efforts by energy and industry partners to enhance charging networks and support Malaysia’s transition to greener transport options.
