Study Reveals Pharmaceuticals Contaminating in Malaysian Waters

Common contaminants include amoxicillin, acetaminophen, and caffeine. Selangor and Negri Sembilan showed the highest concentrations. The study highlights the potential risks to human health and aquatic ecosystems. 

Only 25.2% of Selangor residents return pharmaceutical waste to healthcare institutions, with the majority improperly disposing of it, raising concerns about the cumulative effects on the environment.
