Our famous “Pisang goreng” is commonly known as something affordable and delicious. However, there are some “upscale” places that rename this delicacy and thus overcharge for it. Apparently, a netizen got angry at these viral places on social media where they’d charge RM2-3 per piece instead of RM1 for 5 pieces.

However, these prices would not be found in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor as it will typically be more expensive than that. For the most part, netizens state that these viral stalls are entitled to charge as much as they think is suitable for their business. The prices for essential goods in Selangor and KL are rather high.
Some are discussing these viral stalls offering unique twists towards our local delicacies and then pricing them high. Regardless, it is a common problem for businesses to not price their food well in Malaysia as the F&B industry is a highly competitive one.
