Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail is set to announce his future in PKR soon, following extensive discussions with party president Anwar Ibrahim and deputy president Rafizi Ramli. Amid speculation he may contest the deputy presidency in the upcoming party elections, Saifuddin emphasized the importance of a united PKR to bolster the Harapan coalition and secure Anwar’s second term as prime minister. He reflected on past defeats, including losing the deputy presidency to Rafizi in 2022 and to Azmin Ali in 2014. Saifuddin stressed that service to PKR should not hinge on holding positions. For now, both Rafizi and Saifuddin and Anwar are tight-lipped on whether the deputy leader post will be contested.
