At a Kuala Lumpur event, PKR lawmaker Wong Chen criticized opposition parties now in government for embracing money politics and losing their grassroots ethos. He lamented the “rotten political culture” evident in recent Pakatan Harapan party elections, particularly within PKR and DAP. Wong recalled PKR’s humble beginnings, holding ceramahs in coffee shops or pondoks due to limited funds. Now, lavish hotel venues raise questions about funding sources. “Where does all this money come from?” he asked, noting his own finances only cover family needs, not political ambitions. Wong’s remarks highlight growing concerns over financial influences eroding the coalition’s original values.
