JEMPOL, July 22, 2026 – Speaking at a Negeri Sembilan state election campaign event in Felda Palong 4, Ahmad Maslan said PM Anwar Ibrahim would not dare ask BN leaders to resign from Cabinet positions, citing BN’s 30 parliamentary seats combined with Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) 23 seats as a significant bloc of 53. BN remains a crucial pillar in sustaining Malaysia’s Unity Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he insists.

He warned that any confrontation with BN and GPS could destabilize the government, which currently holds 151 seats. Ahmad stressed BN’s commitment to honor its agreement to support the Unity Government until the end of its term. His remarks followed Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan’s statement of readiness to resign if directed, while Defense Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin reiterated that Cabinet appointments remain the prime minister’s prerogative.
