1 min read

KATHMANDU – Violent protests in Nepal escalated on Tuesday as demonstrators set fire to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s private residence in Balkot, local media reported. Government offices and other buildings were also torched, while mobs stormed the home of President Ramchandra Paudel in Bohratar, burning parts of the property. Protesters targeted several other officials’ homes, including the Communication Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and the central bank governor. The unrest followed the deaths of 19 people and more than 400 injuries after police opened fire on crowds a day earlier. Demonstrators demanded accountability, refusing to disperse despite heavy security presence.
